The Jets acquired high-scoring defenseman Phil Housley from the Buffalo Sabres during the summer of 1990 as part of the trade that sent Dale Hawerchuk to Buffalo. Housley played three seasons with the Jets and led them in scoring for his first two seasons as a Jet and was second only to Teemu Selanne in 1992-1993. He was an All-Star for each of his three seasons in Winnipeg and his 97-point season in 1992-1993 was a career high. The Jets dealt him to the St. Louis Blues prior to the 1993-1994 season and he went on to play ten more seasons with five more teams before officially announcing his retirement in January 2004.
