The Jets signed big winger Larry Hopkins in the summer of 1979 and he spent four seasons in the Jets' organization. His longest stint with the Jets came in 1981-1982, when he played in 41 regular season games and all four playoff games that year. Prior to joining the Jets, he played one season of junior hockey and five years at the University of Toronto. He played two games with the Toronto Maple Leafs on an amateur tryout contract in 1977-1978 and he spent the following season in the minor leagues. His playing career ended after the 1982-1983 season.
