Signed as a free agent, June, 1978. Reclaimed by Detroit Red Wings prior to Expansion Draft, June 9, 1979.
Coming off a 50-goal season in junior hockey, winger Glenn Hicks opted to sign with the Jets instead of the Detroit Red Wings, who selected him in the second round of the 1978 NHL Amateur Draft. He spent the 1978-1979 season with the Jets in a supporting role and the Red Wings reclaimed his rights following the Jets' entry into the NHL. He spent two seasons with the Red Wings before winding up his playing career with five seasons split between the minor leagues and Switzerland.
