The Jets selected Stu Barnes with the fourth pick in the 1989 Entry Draft following his 59-goal season in junior hockey with the Tri-City Americans. Barnes made his Jets debut in 1991-1992, but he was traded to the Panthers early in the 1993-1994 season. After leaving Winnipeg, Barnes' career blossomed and he enjoyed a long NHL career that came to an end following the 2007-2008 season as a member of the Dallas Stars.
