Winnipeg's 1st choice, 4th overall, in 1989 Entry Draft. Traded to Florida Panthers with St. Louis' 6th round choice in 1994 Entry Draft for Randy Gilhen, November 25, 1993.
The Jets selected Stu Barnes with the fourth pick in the 1989 Entry Draft following his 59-goal season in junior hockey with the Tri-City Americans. Barnes made his Jets debut in 1991-1992, but he was traded to the Panthers early in the 1993-1994 season. After leaving Winnipeg, Barnes' career blossomed and he enjoyed a long NHL career that came to an end following the 2007-2008 season as a member of the Dallas Stars.
