The Jets acquired winger Gilles Hamel from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for Scott Arniel during the summer of 1986. After spending two full seasons with the Jets, he was traded to the Los Angeles Kings in November 1988 and finished the 1988-1989 season in the Kings' organization. He wound up his playing career with a brief stint in France the following season.
