Rights acquired from Houston Aeros for cash, July 6, 1978.
The Jets acquired winger John Gray along with a number of former members of the defunct Houston Aeros franchise in the summer of 1978 and he spent the entire 1978-1979 season with the Jets. His only season as a Jet was interrupted when he sustained a whiplash and had to be taken off the ice on a stretcher. Prior to joining the Jets, he spent parts of three seasons with the Phoenix Roadrunners before moving on to Houston. He retired following the 1978-1979 season.
