The Enemy Within

In recent times, our government has been endlessly feeding us the line that climate change is the biggest issue of our time. It is an existential threat to our planet, they say. So we have to tax you more and implement all sorts of new restrictive laws and regulations. Otherwise, the planet will turn into a big boiling hot mess of lava.
Then they told us some mythical virus was spreading like wildfire across the planet. The only way to contain it is for us to lock you down and take away your rights, they say. It’s for your own good. You can get your freedom back, but only if you take these newfangled injections developed specifically for this purpose that we have so thoughtfully purchased in bulk quantities for you. How very convenient. And don’t you worry. They’re safe and effective. Those who say otherwise are spreading harmful and deadly misinformation. Put your trust in the experts.
Now we’re being told that Donald Trump is our enemy. The big, bad unhinged president on our southern border wants to wage economic warfare against us. The federal and provincial Liberals are all up in arms. Justin Trudeau is trying to rally everyone around him and Doug Ford will be calling a snap election to “get a clear mandate” to confront this menace.
This is nothing but a big steaming pile of bullshit. It sounds like something right out of 1984. Yesterday, we were at war with Eurasia. Today, we’re at war with Eastasia. George Orwell would be proud.
In reality, this is another “crisis” manufactured by the government for the government. Justin Trudeau’s Liberals, floundering at the polls, are pulling out all the stops to prevent their government from falling. Doug Ford, meanwhile, Trudeau’s brother-in-arms, is using this opportunity to catch his Uniparty rivals with their pants down and weasel out another four-year term for himself and his team of barking seals.
Do not be fooled. Donald Trump is not our enemy. Nor is he unhinged. It is Trudeau and Ford who are stoking the flames of economic warfare, risking the country’s well-being for no other reason than to maintain their respective grips on power. Evil men like Trudeau and Ford will not hesitate to burn their own nation to the ground to rule over the ashes.
As Walt Kelly said, “We have met the enemy and he is us.”
