The Parties of ‘Yes’

March 19, 2022

On the heels of the upcoming Ontario provincial election, the ruling PCs and the opposition NDP have announced the formation of a strategic alliance, unprecedented in Canadian history. “We share so many core values and principles,” read the joint statement. “Rather than spending our time and energy battling each other, we could accomplish so much more if we pooled our resources and worked together toward our common goals. We believe the synergy between our parties cannot help but benefit each of us in the long run. This is truly a great day for all Ontarians.”

Teams for the two parties have already gotten together on such issues as branding and have worked out a common platform as both parties prepare to hit the campaign trail. “We’re the parties of ‘Yes,’” said a gender-fluid spokesperson for PC Party leader Doug Ford and NDP leader Andrea Horwath. “We know politicians are famous for finding reasons to say no, but that’s not us. We are the only parties looking to the future and we’re ready to build. We’re the parties saying ‘yes.’ Yes, to lockdowns. Yes, to horrific human rights abuses. Yes, to forced injections of experimental drugs. Yes, to firing doctors, nurses and front line health-care workers. Yes, to mass unemployment. Yes, to crushing small-business owners. Yes, to skyrocketing mental-health problems. Yes, to political indoctrination in schools. Yes, to out-of-control spending. Yes, to big, authoritarian government. Yes, to communism. We hope Ontarians will embrace our shared vision for the province’s future.”

The two parties denied that a full-fledged merger is imminent, though they did signal that they expect further cooperative ventures to be announced in the coming weeks.
