Provincial Trunk Highway 59

PTH 59 runs south-north from the US border 8 km south of Tolstoi through Winnipeg north to Victoria Beach on the shore of Lake Winnipeg.
South of Winnipeg, PTH 59 is a major access route for many southeastern Manitoba communities and is one of the two major highways connecting Winnipeg to the US border. North of Winnipeg, the highway serves many cottagers and tourists travelling to and from both Grand Beach and Victoria Beach. It is also the primary access route for the popular Birds Hill Provincial Park.
Within Winnipeg, PTH 59 travels along Lagimodière Boulevard and is paired with Route 20. Signage for PTH 59 is poor within Winnipeg and Route 20 is often the only signage on the route. Most notably, at the intersection of PTH 59 and PTH 1 (Fermor Avenue), the only two highways that travel through Winnipeg completely, signage in both directions from PTH 1 shows no indication of PTH 59 and instead shows only Route 20/Lagimodière Boulevard.
PTH 59 is mostly two-lane undivided from Winnipeg to the US border, but it is mostly four-lane divided north of Winnipeg. Click here to show the route south of PTH 100, here to show the route within the Perimeter Highway and here to show the route north of PTH 101.
Southern Terminus: US border 8 km south of Tolstoi.
Northern Terminus: Intersection of Arthur Road and Eighth Avenue in Victoria Beach.
Multiplexes: PR 210 follows PTH 59 for 2 km near Île des Chênes; PTH 12 follows PTH 59 for 19 km north of Brokenhead up to the turnoff for Grand Beach.
