Provincial Road 520

Old Pinawa Road

PR 520 runs south-north along Old Pinawa Road that connects PR 211 west of Pinawa to PR 313 north east of Lac du Bonnet. It is a poor-quality, gravel path that not only serves as the lone access road to the Pinawa Landfill Site, but to the Pinawa Dam Provincial Heritage Park, the ruins of the decommissioned Pinawa Dam.
 
Southern Terminus: Junction of PR 211 west of Pinawa.
 
Northern Terminus: Junction of PR 313 north east of Lac du Bonnet.
 
Multiplexes: None.

RM of Lac du Bonnet Northbound view approaching the entrance to Pinawa Dam Provincial Heritage Park. The Pinawa Dam was decommissioned in 1950 and it has since been turned into a provincial heritage park. The dam was built in the early 1900's to provide electrical power to Winnipeg's trolley buses and the original Pinawa townsite was built nearby to house the workers.
