PR 301 runs west-east through the southern part of Whiteshell Provincial Park. The route starts in Falcon Lake and follows the northern shore of the lake past Faloma, then crosses under PTH 1 and ends at PTH 44 near Star Lake.
 
Prior to the construction of the present-day PTH 1 and the introduction of the provincial road system, this highway was known as Falcon Lake Road, as it provided the only access to Falcon Lake. Visitors to Falcon Lake accessed this road via PTH 44, which was then known as PTH 1, and turned at what is today known as “Sam's Corner,” where Sam's Garage was located.
 
Western Terminus: Junction of PTH 1 at Falcon Lake.
 
Eastern Terminus: Junction of PTH 44 near Star Lake at “Sam's Corner.”
