The Big Red Dog

September 5, 2026

While seated outside the LaSalle Branch of the Niagara Falls (GSNY) Library the other day, I looked over and spotted this sign designating the building as a fallout shelter. Obviously a relic from the Cold War era.

I couldn’t help but think back to that time when those of us on both sides of the border feared bombs from the Big Red Menace on the other side of globe raining death and destruction on the free world. And it nearly happened, especially during the Cuban missile crisis. The Big Red Dog was sniffing in our backyard, it was said. It pushed the world to the brink.

Thankfully, the bombs never fell. But sadly, even though the Soviet Union and the Eastern Bloc eventually collapsed under their own bureaucratic weight, the Big Red Dog remains alive and well. In fact, it’s thriving better than ever. And it’s not just sniffing in our backyard. It’s inside our homes, pissing in our Corn Flakes and shitting in our beds.

That’s because the threat to the free world now comes from within. In the U.S., it’s the Democrats and their radical splinter faction, the Democratic Socialists of America. Seeking to insidiously seize power through hijacked elections. They’ve already been successful on many fronts, controlling media, academic institutions and other professional organizations as well as infiltrating the judiciary with activists who make laws from the bench, often disregarding the Constitution in the process.

It’s no different here in the CUSR (Canadian Union of Socialist Republics), a once free nation now ruled by an evil junta with no more legitimate claim to power than I do tearing down the foundations our ancestors worked so hard to create. Hard as it is to believe nowadays, this was once a nation those experiencing oppression risked life and limb to flee to. Now it is one where its citizens flee from. In a chilling recent example, police were actively intimidating private citizens in order to try to stop a peaceful gathering for no other reason than the fact that they and their political masters didn’t like the group’s message. Those who we entrust with protecting our safety became activists with guns.

During the Cold War, a fallout shelter may have saved us. But today, it wouldn’t do us a shitload of good.

The enemy is already inside the gates.
