The Wrong Dictator

Imagine, if you will, an oil-rich country vital to U.S. interests ruled by a socialist dictator who seized power in a sham election.
In a deceitful and calculating manner, this dictator helped turn a nation blessed with so many natural resources into a dystopian nightmare that would make George Orwell blush. He has deliberately tanked the economy, impoverishing so many of the country’s people. He has corrupted the police and the judiciary into doing his bidding. Those who express dissent and/or engage in peaceful protests against government policy are violently attacked, imprisoned and convicted in show trials that would make Roland Freisler green with envy.
To control the masses, this dictator exercises strict control over the media, who in turn, carry his messages, gaslighting and mocking those who question their objectivity. Journalists who don’t toe the party line are arrested.
Taxes are extorted from the population, not to fund vital services such as health care, which this dictator has allowed to crumble, but rather to enrich himself and his friends. He is one of the world’s leading experts in money laundering.
But instead, President Trump sent the military to intervene in Venezuela.
Leaving us in Canada stuck with that socialist dictator.
The Donald missed the boat. He got the wrong dictator.
