Winnipeg's 3rd choice, 75th overall, in 1982 Entry Draft. Traded with Paul Fenton to Toronto Maple Leafs for Ed Olczyk and Mark Osborne, November 10, 1990.
The Jets selected defenseman Dave Ellett in the fourth round of the 1982 Entry Draft and after two seasons with Bowling Green State University, he joined the Jets to start the 1984-1985 season. He established himself as a regular immediately and spent six full seasons with the Jets until he was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs in November 1990. He played nine more seasons in the NHL with the Leafs, New Jersey Devils, Boston Bruins, and St. Louis Blues. His shining moment with the Jets came in Game 4 of the 1990 playoffs when his shot from the point beat Bill Ranford and gave the Jets a thrilling double-overtime victory over the Edmonton Oilers. He was born in Cleveland, where his father was playing with the Cleveland Barons along with future Jets' General Manager John Ferguson.
