Traded to Jets by Quebec Nordiques for Mario Marois, December 6, 1988. Traded to Buffalo Sabres with Dave McLlwain, Winnipeg's 5th round choice in 1992 Entry Draft, and future considerations for Darrin Shannon, Mike Hartman, and Dean Kennedy, October 11, 1991.
The Jets acquired rugged defenseman Gord Donnelly from the Quebec Nordiques early in the 1988-1989 season and he stepped in and provided a physical element on the blue line over the next three seasons. The Jets traded him to the Buffalo Sabres early in the 1991-1992 season and he made his last NHL appearance with the Dallas Stars in 1995. He finished his playing career with the IHL's Chicago Wolves in 1996-1997. Donnelly was originally drafted by the St. Louis Blues in 1981 and he made his NHL debut with the Nordiques in the 1983-1984 season.
