#7 - Keith (Captain Weasel) Tkachuk

Keith Matthew Tkachuk
Position: Center
Born March 28, 1972 in Melrose, Massachusetts
Height: 6' 2" Weight: 210
Winnipeg's 1st choice, 19th overall, in 1990 Entry Draft. Signed first professional contract with Jets, February 5, 1992.
The Jets selected Keith Tkachuk in the first round of the 1990 Entry Draft and he made his Jets debut near the end of the 1991-1992 season. During the next four seasons, Tkachuk piled up big numbers as the prototypical “power forward”, culminating in a 50-goal season in 1995-1996, but his overall contribution was not positive. His tenure as a Jet was marred by his immaturity, complaining over contract issues, and an expressed desire to play elsewhere. As a result, he was rightly stripped of his captaincy for most of the 1995-1996 season, only to have it restored for the Jets' last ever game. He moved with the team to Arizona, then moved on to spend most of the remainder of his career with the St. Louis Blues. He announced his retirement from hockey following the 2009-2010 season.
