Today's Jet of the Day

#35 - Daniel (Butch) Bouchard

Daniel Hector Bouchard
Position: Goaltender
Born December 12, 1950 in Val d'Or, Quebec
Height: 6' 0" Weight: 190
Traded to Jets by Quebec Nordiques for Winnipeg's 7th round choice in 1986 Entry Draft, October 14, 1985.
Near the end of his long NHL career, spent mostly with the Atlanta Flames, the Jets acquired veteran goaltender Daniel Bouchard early in the 1985-1986 season from the Quebec Nordiques, who were seeking to unload part of his salary. Bouchard played mostly as a backup to Brian Hayward as the Jets struggled to find someone to seize the starter's role. He eventually landed in coach Barry Long's doghouse and was only freed after Long's dismissal late in the season. The 1985-1986 season proved to be the last of his 14-season NHL career. He first faced the Jets in the 1974 exhibition season as a member of the Atlanta Flames as the Jets played their first game against an NHL opponent. Bouchard backstopped the Flames to a 3-1 victory at the Winnipeg Arena on that evening. He listed his idols as Bobby Hull and Billy Graham.
