#22 - Dan Spring

Daniel Joseph Spring
Position: Center
Born October 31, 1951 in Rossland, British Columbia
Height: 6' 0" Weight: 180
Signed as a free agent, June, 1973.
The Jets signed Dan Spring in July 1973 and he spent two seasons with the Jets following two seasons in the Chicago Black Hawks' organization. After the 1974-1975 season, the Jets offered him a one-year contract, but Spring wanted a three-year deal and he subsequently signed with the Edmonton Oilers, where he spent the 1975-1976 season. He wound up his playing career with two seasons in the WIHL with the Cranbrook Royals. Spring was originally a first-round selection of the Black Hawks in 1971, but he was unable to crack the lineup in Chicago. While with the Black Hawks' farm team in Dallas, he played for future Jets' coach Bobby Kromm. Rudy Pilous had this to say about him in October 1974, “I’m expecting a big year from Danny Spring. I’m convinced he’s arrived as a leader and a fine hockey player. He has talent, tremendous hockey moves, size and I believe he’s not just an ordinary hockey player but a star hockey player who will be a recognized man every time he’s on the ice. A real threat.”
