Signed as a free agent, September 30, 1985.
The Jets signed winger Dave Silk prior to the 1985-1986 season and he spent one season with the Jets before moving on to finish his playing career with four seasons in Germany. While with the Jets, he was a victim of a vicious attack by Glenn Anderson of the Edmonton Oilers, who attempted to gouge Silk's eye with his stick. Anderson was suspended for eight games for the incident that was among the most heinous acts of violence ever witnessed at the Winnipeg Arena. Silk was suspended for six games for having the audacity to defend himself. Silk was originally drafted by the New York Rangers in the 1978 Amateur Draft and he spent time with the Rangers, Boston Bruins, and Detroit Red Wings before joining the Jets.
