Ed Walter Olczyk

Born August 16, 1966 in Chicago, Illinois
Height: 6' 1" Weight: 205

The Jets acquired centerman Ed Olczyk in November 1990 and he remained with the Jets until being traded to the New York Rangers just over two years later. Near the end of the 1995 season, the Jets re-acquired him from the Rangers and he remained with the Jets through their final season in 1995-1996. After the Jets relocated to Arizona, Olczyk moved on and played for the Los Angeles Kings and Pittsburgh Penguins before winding up his playing career in 1999-2000 as a member of the Chicago Blackhawks, his hometown team. He was originally drafted by the Blackhawks with the third-overall pick in the 1984 Entry Draft and he played three seasons in Chicago before being traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Following his playing career, he briefly turned to coaching before settling in as a broadcaster. He made a big splash at the Jets' “funeral” in 1995, vowing to bring the Stanley Cup back to Winnipeg if the relocated team won the prized trophy.
