#19 - Brian (Tinkerbell) Mullen

Brian Patrick Mullen
Position: Left Wing
Born March 16, 1962 in New York, New York
Height: 5' 10" Weight: 180
Winnipeg's 7th choice, 128th overall, in 1980 Entry Draft. Traded to New York Rangers with Winnipeg's 10th round choice in 1987 Entry Draft for New York Rangers' 5th round choice in 1988 Entry Draft and New York Rangers' 3rd round choice in 1989 Entry Draft, June 8, 1987.
The Jets selected winger Brian Mullen late in the 1980 Entry Draft and following two seasons at the University of Wisconsin, he made his Jets debut in 1982-1983. He spent five full seasons with the Jets and played mostly alongside Dale Hawerchuk during that time. He took full advantage of his spot on the top line and broke the 20-goal barrier in his first four seasons as a Jet, coming up just short of that mark in his fifth and final season in Winnipeg. The Jets traded him to the New York Rangers in the summer of 1987 and he spent the next four seasons with his hometown team before being traded to the San Jose Sharks. After one season with the Sharks, he was dealt to the New York Islanders, where he suffered a small stroke in August 1993 that eventually ended his playing career. His biggest goal as a Jet was the overtime winner in Game 1 of the 1985 playoffs against the Calgary Flames.
