Today's Jet of the Day

#30 - Daniel (Bandit) Berthiaume

Daniel J. Berthiaume
Position: Goaltender
Born January 26, 1966 in Longeuil, Quebec
Height: 5' 9" Weight: 150
Winnipeg's 3rd choice, 60th overall, in 1985 Entry Draft. Traded to Minnesota North Stars for future considerations, January 22, 1990. Traded to Jets by Boston Bruins for Doug Evans, June 10, 1992. Released by Jets, July 28, 1992.
Daniel Berthiaume made his Jets debut in Game 3 of the first round of the 1986 playoffs with a sparkling performance in defeat against the Calgary Flames. He teamed with Pokey Reddick the next season as part of the famed “Pokey and the Bandit” duo, but the remainder of his tenure with the Jets was up and down and the early promise he showed never materialized into stardom. He still had a good NHL career and continued playing in Europe and in the minor leagues for many years. He retired from hockey following the 2004-2005 season and devoted his attention to his fishing charter business in Virginia. During his playing days, he was known for his flashy style, and how he shot up his glove hand after making a save would often indicate the kind of game he would have.
