Claimed by Jets from St. Louis Blues in Waiver Draft, January 18, 1995.
The Jets claimed Igor Korolev from the St. Louis Blues in the Waiver Draft prior to the start of the 1995 season. He played for the Jets in their final two seasons and his best year in a Jets uniform came in 1995-1996, when he scored 22 goals in helping lead the Jets to their first playoff berth in three seasons. He moved with the team to Arizona and played there for one season, then he went on to play for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Chicago Blackhawks. After three seasons in the Blackhawks' organization, he returned to his native Russia to finish his playing career. Korolev was originally drafted by the Blues in the second round of the 1992 Entry Draft and he made his NHL debut with them in 1992-1993 after spending several seasons with Moscow Dynamo. During his time in the NHL, he showed a particular penchant for scoring against the Dallas Stars.
