Traded to Jets by New York Raiders for the rights to Mark Dufour, June, 1972.
Danny Johnson became the fifth member of the Jets when he signed in June 1972. He played three seasons for the Jets and became one of the club's leaders, eventually succeeding Ab McDonald as the captain. Johnson retired following the 1974-1975 season and returned his jewelry store in Fort Frances, Ontario. He made his NHL debut in 1969-1970 with the Toronto Maple Leafs and went on to play for the Vancouver Canucks and Detroit Red Wings before signing with the Jets. Johnson passed away in 1993 as a result of ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease).
