The Jets signed centerman Fran Huck early in the 1973-1974 season and was one of the Jets' offensive leaders that year. The following summer, following an incident in which he left the Jets' last game of the playoffs during the second intermission, he was traded to the Minnesota Fighting Saints, where he remained until the franchise folded in February 1976. He returned to the Jets late in the 1976-1977 season after spending the season in Switzerland as a playing coach. Huck was waived by the Jets after playing five games early in 1977-1978, putting an end to his playing career. He was an All-Star during his only full season with the Jets, and also was the first recipient of the Molson Cup, awarded to the player with the most three star selections. In addition, he was named the most popular player of 1973-1974 by the Jets Booster Club.
