Today's Jet of the Day

#18 - Bob (Golden Gorf) Guindon

Robert Pierre Guindon
Position: Left Wing
Born November 19, 1950 in Labelle, Quebec
Height: 5' 9" Weight: 160
Signed as a free agent, November, 1975. Rights retained prior to Expansion Draft, June 9, 1979.
The Jets signed winger Bob Guindon to a tryout contract early in the 1975-1976 season, but though he made a positive impression during his tryout, the Jets were forced to release him on account of lack of money in the budget. Later that season, they brought him back and he remained Jets' property for the rest of his career. He was part of all three AVCO Cup championship teams and he was named the most valuable player of the 1978 playoffs. After the Jets were admitted to the NHL, he spent two seasons with the Jets' farm team in Tulsa, but he did play six games with the Jets in 1979-1980, which was his only NHL appearance. Prior to joining the Jets, Guindon spent two seasons in the Detroit Red Wings' organization and three seasons with the Quebec Nordiques.
